The FDA published a Consumer Update article titled: How to Safely Use Glucose Meters and Test Strips for Diabetes. It is important to know that pre-owned test strips can give incorrect results and may not be safe to use with your device. So the FDA recommends that you do not buy or sell previously owned glucose test strips. Talk to your healthcare provider if you are not sure where to buy test strips for your glucose meter or if you cannot afford to buy the test strips recommended for use with your meter.
