A National Study of Prostate Cancer
in African American Men
The RESPOND study, funded by National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF), will investigate environmental and genetic factors related to aggressiveness of prostate cancer in African-American men. These individuals experience a higher incidence of prostate cancer, are diagnosed more often with aggressive prostate cancer and are more likely to die from the disease than other racial and ethnic groups in the United States.
