CDC’s Cancer Informatics Team Gives Winning Presentation on Data Capture Sandy Jones and her team presented at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) National Capital Area chapter meeting. The presentation on the eMaRC Plus tool was one of four selected for the meeting in Virginia on May 18. Electronic Mapping, Reporting, and Coding (eMaRC) Plus creates abstract records from reports from pathlogy laboratories and physician offices. DCPC Staff to Present at NAACR Conference A number of DCPC staff will present at the upcoming conference of the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR), June 16-23, 2017. Dr. Lisa Richardson will be closing the meeting on a panel entitled “Registry of the Future Part II: Envisioning a Powerful Cancer Surveillance System for North America” with her talk, “CDC's Vision for the Future of Cancer Surveillance.” CDC Accredited by CEO Roundtable on Cancer CDC was recently re-accredited as a CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ employer by the non-profit CEO Roundtable on Cancer. It has been accredited since 2011. The process gives a framework for employers to have a healthier workplace by focusing on cancer risk reduction, early detection, and access to clinical trials and high-quality care. Nearly 200 private, non-profit and government employers in diverse industries have earned Gold Standard accreditation. CDC and the National Cancer Institute are the only 2 federal agencies to have achieved this honor. DCPC’s Latest Publications CDC’s Public Health Surveillance of Cancer, led by Blythe Ryerson, PhD, MPH, examines the ways in which CDC collects data on cancer risk, trends, prevalence, and more. National assessment of HPV and Pap tests: Changes in cervical cancer screening, National Health Interview Survey, led by Meg Watson, found that cervical cancer screening test rates declined between 2000 and 2015.
