Abstract

Six multiplex-compatible PCR-primers were designed to distinguish Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes within serogroup-18 from non/culturable pneumococcal specimen, with no cross-reactivity with other serotypes and respiratory organisms. These primers will aide generate better data on non/vaccine serotypes in invasive and carriage pneumococcal surveillance and contribute in future vaccine formulation and impact studies.
