As we near the end of 2019, let’s look at the results of some NCCIH-funded studies of mind and body practices published this year.
- One study provided preliminary evidence that a mindfulness-based group therapy program may be helpful for people with opioid use disorder and chronic pain who are in methadone maintenance therapy.
- Another study reported on improvements in methods for controlling a robotic arm through mental signals.
- The results of an animal study indicated that modeled manual therapy may protect against repetitive motion pain.
- An analysis of Medicare data showed that access to chiropractic care may reduce medical spending on treatment of spine conditions.
