Important Cut Fruit Recall Information for School Food Service Operators

Dear colleagues,

CDC and partners are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Javiana infections linked to cut fruit produced by Tailor Cut Produce: https://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/javiana-12-19/index.html.

On December 7, 2019, Tailor Cut Produce recalled its Fruit Luau cut fruit mix as well as cut honeydew, cut cantaloupe, and cut pineapple products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recalled cut fruit was sold to schools, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and hotels for institutional and food service use.

We need your help in distributing this important message to school food service operators. It is important that they check their inventory for the recalled cut fruit products and do not serve them

How to identify recalled cut fruit:
  • The recalled fruit included the Fruit Luau cut fruit mix, cut honeydew, cut cantaloupe, and cut pineapple products.
  • The cases are labeled with the company name “Tailor Cut Produce.” Photos of the boxes can be found on the FDA website.
  • The product comes in 2/1 gallon cases with a date of production stamped on the side.
  • The recalled fruit products were distributed between November 15 and December 1, 2019.
If you have questions, please contact the company at 732-246-2002.
Thank you for your help distributing this important message.
