Understanding the Chromosomal Abnormality known as Uniparental Disomy



Uniparental disomy occurs when cells contain two copies of a chromosome from one parent and none from the other parent. Inappropriate gene activity disrupts chromosome segregation and generates uniparental disomy, present in many cancer cells.
