October Opioids Update – Recent Research Funding Awarded
CDC’s Injury Center recently provided funding to 11 institutions through the Research Grants for the Primary or Secondary Prevention of Opioid Overdose (RFA-CE-18-006). Over $8.5 million per year over a 3-year project period to support 12 awards (up to $750k per year per project) has begun as of October 1, 2018. This funding is supporting research that expands and advances understanding about what works to prevent opioid overdose, and will improve state and local health departments’ ability to implement and improve interventions.
