Are mortality rates affected by age adoptees transfer to their adoptive families?

study published today in BMC Public Health aims to assess whether mortality rates among adoptees are associated with the age they were transferred to their adoptive family and whether the association is modified by the social class of the adoptive family.
Previous research has found that, compared with the general population, adoption is associated with increased rates of both all-cause mortality and of specific causes of death, such as infections, vascular disease and cancer as well as alcohol-related deaths and suicide.
