Monday Health.mil News Round-Up: Shelf Life Extension Program Cuts Drug Costs, Aids Combat Readiness; February 19 is Great American Spit Out; Responding to all Situations

Through a cooperative program with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Department of Defense (DoD) is reducing costs by extending the shelf life of selected prescription drugs that are found to be safe and effective beyond the expiration date, maintaining the original quality.
On Feb. 19, join others across the nation in recognition of the Great American Spit Out, a time to quit the use of smokeless tobacco products.
Normally, a Rapid Response Team consists of health care providers trained in early resuscitation intervention and advanced life support who respond to hospitalized patients with early signs of clinical deterioration in non-intensive care units to prevent respiratory or cardiac arrest.
Naval Hospital Pensacola utilizes its Rapid Response Team to respond to any medical emergency that may occur at NHP.
