Sasan Jalili Firoozinezhad is a PhD candidate in the laboratory of Donald Ingber, MD,PhD at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering (Harvard University) and the Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (IST, Portugal). His researches focuses on three-dimensional models of human organs, Organ-on-a-Chip systems, disease modeling and drug development.

Human Gut-on-a-Chip offers hope for discovering new radio-protective drugs

Human Gut-on-a-Chip technology is being used to understand how exposure to radiation (through radiation therapy for cancer, exposure to cosmic rays in astronauts, or accidental exposure in a nuclear accident) impacts cells in the human gut and to test potential protective treatments to prevent damage caused by radiation exposure.
