NAvy Rear Adm. Colin Chinn, director of the Research, Development and Acquisition Directorate for the Defense Health Agency, spoke at the opening of the 2016 Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Summit Sept. 13, 2016. The three-day conference is being held at the Defense Health Headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia, and examines a variety of issues regarding psychological health and TBI for active-duty service members, veterans and their families.
Chinn told more than 1,000 attendees, in the room plus virtual attendees around the world, that the knowledge they gained needs to be translated into information that can be shared with clinicians in the military as well as their civilian counterparts.
“We are learning more and more every day about what we can do for [post-traumatic stress disorder] and TBI,” said Chinn. “That not only benefits our wounded warriors, but also benefits the entire American public.”
