In a primary care-based intervention, the well-being of multimorbid patients from Glasgow was improved by the CARE plus intervention, while resulting in a cost-effectiveness ratio of £12,224 per quality-adjusted life year gained. Results of this phase 2 trial suggest strengthening primary care through whole-system approaches could successfully improve the quality of life of multimorbid patients. Allowing practices in deprived areas to provide longer and patient-centered consultations could help those with more complex needs in a cost-effective manner.
