Get Involved: Find Ways to Participate in National Prevention Week

National Prevention Week is an annual health observance dedicated to increasing awareness of, and action around, substance abuse and mental health issues.
Here’s how you can get involved:
  • Get in the spirit: watch the National Prevention Week 2014 promotional video. Share the video link and spread the word!
  • Encourage friends and family to commit to a healthy lifestyle by taking the Prevention Pledge. You can also customize your pledge with a personal message about why prevention is important to you.
  • Add the power of your voice to SAMHSA’s 2014 “I Choose” photo project. Visitwww.samhsa.gov/prevention-week to find out how you can inspire others by participating. People of all ages are already submitting their photos, and their “I Choose” messages will inspire you, too.
  • Post about National Prevention Week 2014 on social media to raise awareness about behavioral health issues and the importance of preventing problems before they start.
This observance is sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and powered by people and communities nationwide.
