Clinical Trial Assesses Trichuris Suis Ova Treatment in Left-sided Ulcerative Colitis
An NIAID-sponsored clinical trial is currently evaluating Trichuris suis ova (TSO) treatment in left-sided ulcerative colitis (UC). T. suis is a tiny parasitic worm that researchers think may “distract” the immune system so that it fights the worm rather than targeting the colon. People ages 18 to 70 years with active left-sided UC may be eligible to participate.
