Physician - Division of Clinical Research

The NIAID Division of Clinical Research Collaborative Clinical Research Branch, which plays an integral role in facilitating the efficient and effective performance of NIAID research programs in the United States and internationally, seeks qualified and motivated physicians.
As a clinical research physician, the incumbent must demonstrate experience in multi-center clinical trials in resource-scarce areas. The incumbent will provide international research assistance and support to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and international standards for the conduct of clinical trials, will provide scientific guidance to the overall program to ensure successful performance of contract requirements, will assist in the development of clinical standard operating procedures, will work with the safety office to ensure the highest standards of pharmaco-vigilance, and may serve as an associate investigator on protocols.
U.S. citizenship and an M.D. are required. Board certification in infectious disease and relevant training or board certification in internal medicine are preferred.
Experience in international clinical trial research, with strong analytical abilities and knowledge of biomedical technology; quantitative methods; regulatory requirements for designing, conducting, evaluating, and managing research; and a strong commitment to advancing a scientific agenda and building independent research capacities in developing countries, as well as an understanding of international research ethics to work collaboratively in the international arena are also preferred.
