The Center for Neuroscience and Behavioral Medicine at Children’s National Hospital is once again proud to host the 30th Annual Pediatric Neurology Update course.
This year's course will feature two critical areas in pediatric neuroscience, neuromuscular diseases with a special emphasis on the scientific, medical, ethical and financial implications of the new molecular genetic therapies for pediatric neuromuscular disease (including Werdnig-Hoffmann and Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy) and advances in neurocritical care.
Internationally renowned speakers will complement talks from Children’s faculty. This year’s course will feature two co-Richmond Paine Lecturers, Drs. Kevin Flanigan and Richard Finkel, who have been integral in the development and clinical testing of the new neuromuscular neurogenetic therapies. To complement their talks, representatives from NIH (Dr. Nina Schor from NINDS), the FDA (Dr. Wilson Bryan) and Industry will speak and be part of an interactive Round Table discussion.
The afternoon session will feature this year’s McCullough Lecturer, Dr. David Adelson, an internationally respected clinician and clinical researcher with special expertise in traumatic brain injury. His talk will be followed by Dr. Michael Bell, Head of Critical Care at Children’s National Hospital and also a leader in the field of brain resuscitation, as well as Dr. Jessica Carpenter, Dr. Dana Harrar and others from Children’s National who run the Critical Care service speaking on topics including acute stroke management, acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) and modern concepts of neurorehabilitation.
We invite you to join us for presentations from renowned experts in the field in this full-day, CME accredited event.
