President’s FY21 Budget Proposal for the Ending the HIV Epidemic Initiative
On February 10, 2020, the White House released President Donald Trump’s Fiscal Year 2021 Federal Budget proposal. “The 2021 Budget includes $716 million for the second year of the multiyear initiative to eliminate HIV in America, a $450 million increase compared to the 2020 enacted level.”

NIH-Funded Clinical Trial to Test PrEP & Dapivirine Ring for Safety in Pregnant Women
The first clinical trial specifically designed to test the safety of the monthly dapivirine vaginal ring in pregnant women has begun in southern and eastern Africa. The National Institutes of Health-funded study will also test the safety of a daily oral antiviral tablet for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis in pregnant women and will assess how much they accept and use these two HIV-prevention tools.
