OMH Promotes Active & Healthy and Heart Health during Black History Month 2020
February is Black History Month, offering our nation the opportunity to once again recognize the enormous contributions and rich heritage of African Americans. As we celebrate the achievements of so many, the HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) is joining partners to support healthier communities by promoting the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle and better heart health.
Visit the OMH Black History Month webpage to learn more about activities and events, and to download our shareable graphics and other related materials. Please join us for our #LoveYourHeartChat Twitter chat on Wednesday, February 19th at 2 pm ET. We are partnering with the NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle in order to overcome cardiovascular health disparities in the African American community.
Join the conversation. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and use hashtag #BlackHistoryMonth. Tell us what you are doing to observe Black History Month in your community or organization. Please sign up for OMH newsletters for additional updates. Finally, remember that a healthier history is in your hands…one healthy choice at a time.
