What We Know So Far
A novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, has emerged from Wuhan, China and has stoked fears of a global pandemic. In a JAMA viewpoint and 2 video and audio interviews, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the NIH’s National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, summarized the biology of coronaviruses, discussed similarities and differences between the current COVID-19 epidemic and prior SARS and MERS infections, and reviewed the status of medications and vaccination development for SARS-CoV-2.
