Fluidic Biomarkers of Neurotoxicity
In a consortium effort with the Health and Environmental Sciences Institute (HESI), NCTR scientists collaborated with experts from other government agencies, academia, and industry to search for non-invasive biomarkers of neurotoxicity that can be evaluated in circulating biofluids, such as serum, plasma, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid. In the first set of studies, several unique candidates have been identified and an initial summary of these findings was published in Experimental Biology and Medicinedisclaimer icon. Preliminary findings from this work were presented as a symposium at the Winter Toxicology Forum 2017 in Washington D.C. and a workshop on the study was presented at the 2018 Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting.
