The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons mentions these common risk factors for plantar fasciitis:
- Having tight calf muscles that affect the ability to flex your foot and toes.
- Being obese.
- Having a very high arch.
- Engaging in repetitive high-impact activities, such as running.
- Recently increasing your activity level, or participating in a new activity.
