Updates in Ovarian Cancer From the Society of Gynecologic Oncology Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer 2026 Amelia M. Jernigan, MD

https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/sgo-2026-conference-ovarian-cancer-abstract-highlights-2026a10008ca Pivotal ovarian cancer data from the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer 2026 are reviewed by Dr Amelia Jernigan from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr Jernigan reports results from the phase 3 NRG-GY019 trial in which letrozole was compared to letrozole plus chemotherapy in newly diagnosed stage II-IV low-grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC). Progression-free survival (PFS) at 12 months was 91% with the combination vs 80% with letrozole alone. The combination is the new standard, but she notes letrozole monotherapy remains a viable option for those with no gross residual disease (R0) post-cytoreduction.
