Latest Developments in Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis From AAN 2026 Joseph R. Berger, MD

https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/american-acad-neurology-2026-multiple-sclerosis-highlights-2026a1000btt The latest advances in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) presented at the 2026 American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting include a promising potential new treatment and several studies offering insights into common questions in RRMS management, as discussed by Dr Joseph Berger of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Dr Berger begins by highlighting the FENhance 1 and 2 studies evaluating fenebrutinib (FEN), a Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor (BTKi), vs an active comparator, teriflunomide. In contrast to disappointing prior phase 3 trials of BTKi in RRMS, FEN achieved clear superiority, reducing annual relapse rates by 51.1% and 58.5% in the two studies. FEN is now the first BTKi to show efficacy on relapsing disease biology.
