Even though studying cells in vitro is common practice, it still faces limitations. The requirement for atmospheric control of cell cultures in order to maintain pH of the culture medium and/or physiological oxygen conditions interferes with real-time monitoring of long-term cellular reactions such as dell death. BMG LABTECH overcomes this limitation by an atmospheric control unit (ACU): it regulates the gas atmosphere inside the microplate reader and ensures ideal CO2 and O2 conditions during a long-term experiment. Especially cell health assays benefit from the ACU as changes in viability or induction of cell death depend on the applied noxa, cell type, replication rate and many more. Therefore, the timing can hardly be foreseen, increasing the risk of missing events in endpoint measurements. Learn how the CLARIOstar with ACU monitors cell viability and cytotoxicity over days.
