2017 CDC National Cancer Conference Starts Monday

The 2017 CDC National Cancer Conference,“Visualizing the Future Through Prevention, Innovation, and Communication,” kicks off at 12:30 p.m. on August 14 at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia Hotel. Online registration is now closed, but attendees can register on-site beginning at 7:00 a.m. at the hotel. CDC welcomes special guest speakers Joan Lunden, Dr. Sanjeev Arora, Dr. Atul Gawande, and Dr. Lucile Adams-Campbell.

New Public Use Database Covers 100% of U.S. Population

CDC has released a public use research NPCR and SEER Incidence – United States Cancer Statistics database that provides cancer data from all 50 U.S. states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico. This is the first time combined data from the CDC’s National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) and NCI’s Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program have been made available in this format.

New Skin Cancer Prevention Progress Report Available

The 2017 Skin Cancer Prevention Progress Report highlights new data, developments, and success stories since the release of the Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Prevent Skin Cancer.

Webinar on Smoking in Multi-Unit Housing

CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health is supporting the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in its effort to protect staff and residents working and living in federally owned and operated public housing units from the dangers of secondhand smoke exposure. Learn more.
In support of this work, the National Association of County and City Health Officials and the American Cancer Society will present a webinar on Tuesday, August 22 from 1–2 p.m. on the role of local health departments in promoting smoke-free multi-unit housing.
