Dear Prof CERASALE MORTEO, Did you know that you can publish your 'dark data' in BMC Research Notes - single observations, short null results, orphan data and confirmatory results? We believe this data has value. It can save your peers time and contribute to your field's growing bank of knowledge. Going Back to Our Roots We are bringing the journal back to its roots with a focus on shorter research notes that aim to bring dark data out of the shadows. We require that all submissions be in the format ‘research note’. This article type has a word limit to ensure authors focus on the essential scientific content and is particularly suitable for the reporting of unconventional or brief research outputs. A New Scope to Cover All Areas of Scientific Research Earlier in the year we made the decision to expand our scope to cover the physical sciences, engineering and mathematics, in addition to the life sciences and medicine. In this way we are ensuring that BMC Research Notes is the home for valuable data and incremental results across all fields of scientific research. We are Recruiting BMC Research Notes is recruiting new Associate Editors to join our Editorial Board. We are particularly interested in hearing from dedicated researchers with a background in physical sciences, mathematics and engineering. For us, a suitable Editorial Board Member is committed to open access, data sharing and innovation in scholarly publishing. You should be curious and interested in handling manuscripts across a range of topics and enjoy the exposure to a great breadth of interesting research. We are particularly interested in providing early career researchers with exposure and experience in editorial work and encourage applications from senior post-docs and early career academics with a good track record of scientific work.
