USAID’S DAVID STANTON FROM AIDS 2016

USAID is among the many federal agencies engaged in the response to HIV around the globe. One of the PEPFAR implementing agencies, USAID is marking its 30th anniversary of working in the HIV response. At the International AIDS Conference Exit Disclaimer (AIDS 2016) in Durban, South Africa today, we had the opportunity to visit with David Stanton, Director of USAID’s Office of HIV/AIDS.
In a conversation with his colleague Prachi Patel, Mr. Stanton discussed the agency’s work to deliver comprehensive HIV services to key populations, the great potential of PrEP and microbicides, and the confounding role of HIV stigma and discrimination.
