NCCN Webinar: Maintenance Therapy for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)
Program Overview

This one-hour webinar will educate participants on how to outline treatment approaches for patients after initial therapy for advanced NSCLC, identify patients that are most likely to benefit from maintenance therapy, and summarize the risks and benefits associated with maintenance therapy.

Lung cancer is often diagnosed in the advanced stage where there is a poor prognosis. There are different therapeutic approaches currently available for patients after initial treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but there is little scientific data to support one approach as the standard of care. Clinicians need to integrate a variety of factors into their clinical decision making to provide the best treatment plan for the patient. These factors include: risks and benefits of administering maintenance therapy, histologic characteristics of the tumor, patient and treatment-related factors, and goals of therapy. It is crucial that the clinician have a thorough knowledge of the associated factors for clinical decision making to optimize the desired clinical outcome for the patient.
