A study of attitudes to genetic studies, following several years of a community health-promotion program for residents of the Japanese city of Nagahama, show good support and understanding of the benefits of genetic studies even among those who had been unaware of the program. Those who were more engaged with the program had fewer concerns about possible negative effects of testing, but this didn’t increase willingness to take part in related activities such as drug susceptibility testing.
