Video: Blocking Alarmins to Treat Long-Term Disease

A short video describes new findings from a mouse study showing that blocking alarmins, a type of signaling protein, may lead to new strategies to treat asthma and parasite infections. Using a mouse model of asthma, NIAID scientists found that blocking three particular alarmins in combination early in the disease process lessened inflammation and tissue scarring.

The video is part of NIAID’s video SNiP series, in which an NIAID scientist explains a recent research advance and its implications in plain language in approximately 90 seconds.
