National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Domestic Violence (DV) includes physical abuse, emotional and other forms of violence that takes place within a family home. Intimate partner violence (IPV) is when a current or former partner harms, threatens to harm, or stalks.  IPV is a form of domestic violence.
The Departments of Veterans Affairs’ Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program is raising awareness to keep Veterans, Caregiver and loved ones safe, supported and connected to resources. Those that experience IPV can be any gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation.  It can be very challenging for those experiencing IPV to seek help and or leave their abusive situations.  If you or someone you know is experiencing IPV, please let us help you identify safety resources.
Local Caregiver Support Coordinators (CSC) are available to support Veterans or Caregivers that are experiencing IPV.  CSC’s can provide VA and community resources to assist. Please visit our website at www.caregiver.va.gov or call the Caregiver Support Line at 1-855-260-3274.
