Medical Breakthroughs: First to Know

Will Labor Day Ever Get Here?

Has this summer been incredibly busy for everyone or just Ivanhoe? After a fairly sluggish few years, it is really nice to feel the tempo picking up again. The summer has sped by but Labor Day feels like it will never get here. By the way, we love what we do but we do need more people so if you or anyone you know is a former tv reporter who might want to freelance for us, please give me a call!
     Watch our Medical Headline Videos:
  •      Dr Joseph Neimat, MD, MS, Neurosurgeon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is using what seems like a magic wand for epilepsy surgery. It is a new tool with a laser on the end and they are able to burn away the seizure-causing brain tissue.
  •      Dr Robert Wang, Ophthamologist at Texas Retina Associates is treating people with diabetic retinopathy, the leading cause of blindness in American adults and it involves one injection of Iluvien that is good for three years instead of monthly.
  •      Dr Gregory Mencio, MD, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at Vanderbilt, is using breakthrough technology to implant titanium growing rods in children with scoliosis.
Our first special report is an inspiring story about Ella Frech, an 11 year old who was suddenly paralyzed by a polio-like disease called acute flaccid myelitis. Dr Chaouki Khoury, MD, MS, Child Neurologist at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas is her doctor.
Our full length doctor’s interview is with Dr Joseph Lamelas, MD, Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He explains the “ring and sling” procedure for the heart.

Premium Content in the Archives may be purchased for as little as $9 for 24-hour, unlimited access. If you would like to access Premium Content for the first time click here.
Finally, Dr Laurence Sperling, MD, Preventive Cardiologist at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, discusses various diets. There is still is no magic pill to drop your extra pounds, unfortunately.
And there's more where that came from...

“Many religions claim that theirs is the only path to the Truth… But God never made an agreement with any of these religions. All religions are of fairly recent origin, but God has existed since the beginning of time. He could not have signed a contract with any religious founder saying, 'You are my exclusive salesman.'”
