Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) can cause pain and sensory disturbances and, in severe cases, may require dose reductions or discontinuation of cancer treatment. Effective treatments are unavailable. A new study published in Science found promising preclinical data suggesting that psilocybin may protect sensory nerves from the neurotoxic effects of several chemotherapeutic agents.
