15% 0f all Americans live in rural areas. Only 1 in 4 practice 4 of 5 health related behaviors including not smoking, maintaining normal body weight, being active, nondrinking and sufficient sleep.



Live in a rural area? Despite improvements in the overall health of Americans, people living in rural areas are at greater risk for chronic disease. A newMMWR report, Health-Related Behaviors by Urban-Rural County Classification — United States, 2013, looks at urban and rural differences in the United States regarding five selected Healthy People 2020health-related behaviors.
