17th ICID Pre-Congress Educational Program - Empowering Indian Health Researchers with Computational Modeling Tools

17th ICID Pre-Congress Educational Program - Empowering Indian Health Researchers with Computational Modeling Tools
17th International Congress on Infectious Diseases
Hyderabad, India, March 2-5, 2016
17th ICID Pre-Congress Educational Program

A collaborative group including the Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad (IIPHH)SHARE INDIA, and the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh, have been funded by the NIH Fogarty Center to conduct an education program, "Empowering Indian Health Researchers with Computational Modeling Tools." The program draws on expert Indian colleagues as well as deep expertise in agent-based modeling of infectious disease at the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh. In addition to an important and timely focus on infectious disease, the modeling concepts and many of the tools may be also applied to chronic disease modeling, economic analyses, and other types of public health modeling.

A first symposium on Health Analytics and Disease Modeling (HADM 2016) will be held at IIPHH February 29-March 1, 2016. This is immediately preceding the International Congress on Infectious Diseases in Hyderabad, March 2-5, 2016. Participation by researchers with an interest in infectious disease dynamics and modeling is especially encouraged. To be sustainable, public health modeling requires a team with broad and deep expertise including computer science, programming, mathematics, statistics/biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, as well as access to good datasets. You are encouraged to apply and to identify trainees, faculty, and colleagues who may apply as a team. Single applications are also welcome. For accepted applicants who are not part of a team, the organizers will work towards incorporating them into a new or existing team.

Symposium registration, lodging and meals will be provided to all accepted participants without charge.

Subsequent years of the education program will include an opportunity to participate in a one week in depth training workshop in infectious disease modeling techniques at the University of Pittsburgh, and the opportunity to apply for startup modeling research grants.

Please see the website www.healthanalytics.org providing more information about the symposium, and the application process.
