Description: This event, sponsored by Colorado Children's Immunization Coalition (CCIC) at the Cable Center on the University of Denver campus, will raise funds and awareness for childhood immunizations and honor the Big Shot of the Year, Dr. Allison Kempe. In addition, CCIC will recognize 2 immunization champions: the Regional Sure Shot, Opal Stalker, and the Metro Denver Sure Shot, Priscilla Hurley. The theme of the fundraiser is "Local Efforts. Global Good.", recognizing how local immunization efforts positively impact disease prevention worldwide. In addition to networking, guests will sample a variety of soups and vote for the Best Soup and Most Creative Soup of the year.

Description: The Logan County Health District will host a 5K WALK along with Heartland of Bellefontaine. "Walking for Health" will kick off Public Health and Immunization Week. Along with the walk course, a mini Health Fair will take place. Free blood pressure screenings, body mass index (BMI) and immunization information can be requested. A coupon for a free DTaP vaccine (diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis) for children 24 months and younger will be handed out.

Description: Urbana area preschools will receive copies of NIIW coloring books and crayons for children. There will also be supporting educational material for parents. Children who choose to participate will have a chance to win the grand prize. Every preschool-age child that comes in for shots or brings in their updated shot record during the month of April will get a second chance for the grand prize drawing, to be held April 30. Shots will be given at the immunization clinic at Champaign Health District.

Description: Binders with pictures and descriptions of vaccine preventable disease, tips on how to talk to parents who are reluctant to vaccinate their children, and other important information will be delivered to all pediatric provider offices. Description: The Rhode Island Department of Health has partnered with a local charter high school for students who would like to go into the nursing field. The students from Rhode Island Nursing Institute Middle College Charter School will visit three local childcare centers to read to the children and talk with them about hand washing and getting their "shot" to stay healthy. The students will complete the visit by helping the children with a specially designed craft project that will enhance the lesson.
