US pilots and flight attendants had higher odds of dying from cancers potentially related to radiation exposure than workers in other occupations, according to a large analysis of US death certificate data.
The researchers said their findings are consistent with prior epidemiologic studies linking aircrew work to higher cancer incidence, with the current study building on that research by examining cancer mortality among aircrew and about 500 other occupations.
