Tracking Awareness Week: Partnerships

The topic for today’s #PoweredByTracking Tracking Awareness Week discussion is partnerships. The Tracking Network has many valuable national partners that enhance CDC’s ability to:

  1. Build a sustainable National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network
  2. Enhance environmental public health tracking workforce and infrastructure
  3. Disseminate information to guide policy, practice, and other actions to improve the nation’s health
  4. Advance environmental public health science and research
  5. Foster collaboration among public health and environmental programs
Here’s just a few examples of the important partnerships that help power Tracking:
  • Tracking programs in state and local health departments contribute data and expertise to help us build a better picture of environmental health in the United States. Learn more about our state and local tracking programs.
  • CDC programs, like the Climate and Health Program, collaborate with the Tracking Program to develop unique ways to display health information and data together. The Heat and Health Tracker is a a first-of-its-kind, online tool designed to help emergency and public health planners prepare for and respond to extreme heat events.
  • Federal agencies contribute valuable data and expertise to the Tracking Network. NASA’s Applied Sciences Program has partnered with Tracking to create the first publicly available map of ultraviolet (UV) radiation for all counties in the contiguous United States.
  • National organizations improve awareness and improve environmental health capacity and workforce development. ASTHO partners with the CDC Tracking Program to present the Environmental Public Health Tracking: Peer-to-Peer Fellowship Program. This joint partnership has helped build capabilities for tracking in at least 23 non-funded sites, increasing environmental health infrastructure and contributing data to the national Tracking Network.
