NIMHD Supports Research on Digital Interventions Addressing COVID-19’s Health Effects

While COVID-19’s direct clinical effects are being studied, recognizing the pandemic’s secondary health effects—the social, behavioral, and economic impacts on health conditions—is also critical. A new funding opportunity from NIMHD and other NIH Institutes supports research on the role and impact of digital health interventions to address access, reach, delivery, effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability among health disparities and vulnerable populations.
Proposed studies should capitalize on existing infrastructure, have a theory and prior evidence for a proposed mechanism of action related to the study outcome that is measured as part of the overall design, and not just conduct pragmatic trials on digital health platforms.
NIMHD encourages investigators to participate in this important public health activity and welcomes inquiries concerning this funding opportunity. Review the funding opportunity announcement (FOA) for more information on eligibility and application submissions.
Open Date (Earliest Submission Date): July 20, 2020
Application Due Dates: August 20, 2020; December 2, 2020; and March 2, 2021, by 5:00 p.m. local time of applicant organization.
