The virus is a respiratory illness with symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath. These flu-like symptoms may appear in as few as 2 days or as long as 14 days after exposure. As of the afternoon of Tuesday, February 4, there were 11 confirmed cases in the U.S.
In response to this outbreak, the CDC established health screening areas at multiple U.S. airports. On arrival to the U.S., travelers from Wuhan or other surrounding areas may undergo a health screening or be detained for an additional health assessment.
