REACH 20th Anniversary

CDC Museum Features REACH Impact and History

The ongoing impact and 20-year history of the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program are being celebrated with an exhibit at the David J. Sencer CDC Museum. REACH is one of the only CDC programs that focuses on reducing chronic disease for specific racial and ethnic groups in urban, rural, and tribal communities with high disease burden.

Since 1999, REACH has worked with more than 180 communities to create environments that make healthy living easier. These communities have demonstrated that locally-based and culturally-tailored solutions can effectively address gaps in health. The REACH communities have reported decreases in smoking, reductions in obesity, increases in fruit and vegetable consumption, and improvements in healthy behaviors.
