The Archives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine recently published an article co-authored by Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS) health scientist, Dr. Rex Astles. The study was part of DLS’ cooperative agreement with the College of American Pathologists (CAP) to promote the use of metrics to improve development and application of laboratory practice guidelines (LPGs). The study assessed the awareness and adoption of CAP LPGs through surveys, telephone interviews, and focus group sessions conducted with laboratory professionals. Written and electronic surveys were found to be the most effective method to evaluate LPG awareness, adoption, and effectiveness.
