It's Arthritis Awareness Month
May is Arthritis Awareness Month. Are you or someone you care for one of the estimated 27 million adults in the United States who live with osteoarthritis (OA)—the most common type of arthritis? Here’s some good news: research suggests that acupuncture may help to reduce pain and improve joint mobility in people with OA. There’s also some evidence that massage and tai chi may help to reduce pain and improve the ability to walk and move. However, there’s no strong evidence that dietary supplements help with OA symptoms or the underlying course of the disease. Learn more about complementary health approaches and OA, as well as about rheumatoid arthritis, here.
