A New Lens of Beauty: Bold Beauty Project
By Guest Blogger Shelly Baer, Director, Bold Beauty Project
Bold Beauty Project, formerly known asUncensored Life: Raw Beauty, is launching in Washington, D.C., on October 10, 2015, at the Anacostia Arts Center(1231 Good Hope Road SE, Washington, D.C.). Our opening reception will be a fundraiser for United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) DC & Northern Virginia.
It’s no coincidence that the event is taking place during the 25th anniversary year of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Disability Awareness month. I co-created this unique photography exhibition in Miami nine years ago as a fundraiser for the Center for Independent Living of South Florida. As one of the models, I posed for the project and began to speak publicly about dating with a disability, had articles published and even gave a TEDx talk. The project changed my life.
