Overview

Climate change is any significant variation in temperature, precipitation, wind, or other type of weather that lasts for decades or longer. These changes have the potential to affect human health in several direct and indirect ways. The challenge is to research and characterize how these climate events may influence worker health and safety and to establish plans for mitigating, responding to, and adapting to current and anticipated health impacts. Although considerable research and planning with regard to climate change has dealt with public health and the environment, little of it has focused on the impact climate change will have on workers.
