NIAID-funded Study Provides Insight Into Development of Vaccine Immunity
NIAID-funded researchers at Emory University have shown that the immune system responds to different vaccines in distinct ways. The scientists developed a new, highly sensitive method to look for links between gene expression patterns and antibody responses to vaccines. Using this method, the investigators uncovered details about how the immune system reacts to five different vaccines.
Their findings, published online December 15 in Nature Immunology, begin to unravel the complexity of immune responses to vaccines. The newly described bioinformatics method promises to help researchers further understand how vaccine immunity develops.
For more information about the study, read the abstract in Nature Immunology.
