Women and girls living with FGS face numerous intersecting challenges and health complications, ultimately contributing to urogenital dysfunction and adverse sexual and reproductive health outcomes. In this four-paper Series, we examine sex-specific aspects of Schistosoma infections in women and girls, diagnostic techniques and treatment strategies, barriers to diagnosis and treatment, management during pregnancy and implications for offspring, and the interactions with other genital infections and their clinical implications.
