A new Alcohol Research: Current Reviews Perspective article explores how artificial intelligence (AI)-based approaches such as machine learning, large language models (e.g., “chatbots”), and data analysis tools may be utilized to advance alcohol research, screening, and treatment. Research has found that such approaches show promise for screening and providing evidence-based psychotherapy to more individuals; however, they must be implemented in an ethical and bias-free manner to realize their full potential.
