CDC Releases Two HIV Surveillance Reports
[Yesterday], CDC published two new reports: Diagnoses of HIV Infection in the United States and Dependent Areas, 2018 (Updated) and Estimated HIV Incidence and Prevalence in the United States 2014–2018, as well as an AtlasPlus update that includes data from these reports. The reports and AtlasPlus update provide HIV diagnoses, diagnosed prevalence, and death data, along with estimated HIV incidence, prevalence, and knowledge of status through the year 2018.

President Trump Announces Remdesivir Authorized for Emergency COVID-19 Treatment, Discusses Ending HIV and Hepatitis C
On May 1, 2020, the President announced that the investigational antiviral drug remdesivir has been authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for emergency use to treat suspected or laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 in adults and children hospitalized with severe disease, and also discussed HIV and hepatitis C.

Update on the 2020 National Ryan White Conference on HIV Care & Treatment
In light of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, HRSA’s HIV/AIDS Bureau is making arrangements to host the 2020 National Ryan White Conference on HIV Care and Treatment virtually. This conference is currently scheduled for August 11-14, 2020, in Washington, DC.

During May, several national health observances recognize – and call us to respond to – the breadth of the impact of HIV and viral hepatitis in our nation.

In 2020, these May observances occur in the context of COVID-19. We acknowledge the public health and HIV communities for their continuing efforts to draw attention to HIV and other health issues. We also appreciate their work to respond to COVID-19 concerns for those living with/at risk for HIV and their efforts to encourage COVID-19 prevention.
